Programming Considerations

CaremustbetakenthatdataisnotinadvertentlywrittentotheEEPROM.ProtectioncanbePeriodic

byensuringthattheWriteEnablebitisnormallyclearedtozerowhennotwriting.AlsotheMemory

pointerhighbyteregisterscouldbenormallyclearedtozeroasthiswouldinhibitaccesstoSector1

wheretheEEPROMcontrolregisterexist.Althoughcertainlynotnecessary,considerationmightbe

givenintheapplicationprogramtothecheckingofthevalidityofnewwritedatabyasimpleread

backprocess.WhenwritingdatatheWRbitmustbesethighimmediatelyaftertheWRENbithas

beensethigh,toensurethewritecycleexecutescorrectly.TheglobalinterruptbitEMIshouldalso

beclearedbeforeawritecycleisexecutedandthenre-enabledafterthewritecyclestarts.Notethat

thedeviceshouldnotentertheIDLEorSLEEPmodeuntiltheEEPROMreadorwriteoperationis

totallycomplete.Otherwise,theEEPROMreadorwriteoperationwillfail.
