AnylocationwithintheProgramMemorycanbedefinedasalook-uptablewhereprogrammerscan

storefixeddata.Tousethelook-uptable,thetablepointermustfirstbesetupbyplacingtheaddress

ofthelookupdatatoberetrievedinthetablepointerregister,TBLPandTBHP.Theseregisters

definethetotaladdressofthelook-uptable.

Aftersettingupthetablepointer,thetabledatacanberetrievedfromtheProgramMemoryusing

the“TABRD[m]”or“TABRDL[m]”instructionsrespectivelywhenthememory[m]islocated

inSector0.Ifthememory[m]islocatedinotherSectors,thedatacanberetrievedfromthe

programmemoryusingthe“LTABRD[m]”or“LTABRDL[m]”instructionsrespectively.Whenthe

instructionisexecuted,thelowerordertablebytefromtheProgramMemorywillbetransferredto

theuserdefinedDataMemoryregister[m]asspecifiedintheinstruction.Thehigherordertabledata

bytefromtheProgramMemorywillbetransferredtotheTBLHspecialregister.

Theaccompanyingdiagramillustratestheaddressingdataflowofthelook-uptable.

Thefollowingexampleshowshowthetablepointerandtabledataisdefinedandretrievedfrom

themicrocontroller.ThisexampleusesrawtabledatalocatedintheProgramMemorywhichis

storedthereusingtheORGstatement.ThevalueatthisORGstatementis“1F00H”whichrefers

tothestartaddressofthelastpagewithinthe8KwordsProgramMemoryoftheHT69F350.The

tablepointerissetupheretohaveaninitialvalueof“06H”.Thiswillensurethatthefirstdataread

fromthedatatablewillbeattheProgramMemoryaddress“1F06H”or6locationsafterthestartof

thespecifiedpage.Notethatthevalueforthetablepointerisreferencedtothefirstaddressofthe

presentpageifthe“TABRD[m]”instructionisbeingused.Thehighbyteofthetabledatawhichin

thiscaseisequaltozerowillbetransferredtotheTBLHregisterautomaticallywhenthe“TABRD

[m]”instructionisexecuted.

BecausetheTBLHregisterisaread/writeregisterandcanberestored,careshouldbetaken

toensureitsprotectionifboththemainroutineandInterruptServiceRoutineusetableread

instructions.Ifusingthetablereadinstructions,theInterruptServiceRoutinesmaychangethe

valueoftheTBLHandsubsequentlycauseerrorsifusedagainbythemainroutine.Asaruleitis

recommendedthatsimultaneoususeofthetablereadinstructionsshouldbeavoided.However,in

situationswheresimultaneoususecannotbeavoided,theinterruptsshouldbedisabledpriortothe

executionofanymainroutinetable-readinstructions.Notethatalltablerelatedinstructionsrequire

twoinstructioncyclestocompletetheiroperation.
