TM Clock Source

TheclocksourcewhichdrivesthemaincounterineachTMcanoriginatefromvarioussources.The

selectionoftherequiredclocksourceisimplementedusingthexTnCK2~xTnCK0bitsintheTM

controlregisters.TheclocksourcecanbearatioofeitherthesystemclockfSYSortheinternalhigh

clockfH,thefSUBclocksourceortheexternalxTCKnpin.ThexTCKnpinclocksourceisusedto

allowanexternalsignaltodrivetheTMasanexternalclocksourceorforeventcounting.

TM Interrupts

TheCompact,StandardandPeriodictypeTMseachhastwointernalinterrupts,theinternal

comparatorAorcomparatorP,whichgenerateaTMinterruptwhenacomparematchcondition

occurs.WhenaTMinterruptisgenerated,itcanbeusedtoclearthecounterandalsotochangethe

stateoftheTMoutputpin.

TM External Pins

EachoftheTMs,irrespectiveofwhattype,hasoneTMinputpin,withthelabelxTCKn.TheTM

inputpin,isessentiallyaclocksourcefortheTMandisselectedusingthexTnCK2~xTnCK0bits

inthexTMnC0register.ThisexternalTMinputpinallowsanexternalclocksourcetodrivethe

internalTM.ThisexternalTMinputpinissharedwithotherfunctionsbutwillbeconnectedtothe

internalTMifselectedusingthexTnCK2~xTnCK0bits.TheTMinputpincanbechosentohave

eitherarisingorfallingactiveedge.

TheTMseachhaveoneormoreoutputpinswiththelabelxTPn.WhentheTMisintheCompare

MatchOutputMode,thesepinscanbecontrolledbytheTMtoswitchtoahighorlowlevelor

totogglewhenacomparematchsituationoccurs.TheexternalxTPnoutputpinisalsothepin

wheretheTMgeneratesthePWMoutputwaveform.ThexTPnpinactsasaninputwhentheTMis

setuptooperateintheCaptureInputMode.AsthexTPnpinsarepin-sharedwithotherfunctions,

thexTPnoutputfunctionmustfirstbesetupusingregisters.Asinglebitinoneoftheregisters

determinesifitsassociatedpinistobeusedasanexternalTMoutputpinorifitistohaveanother

function.

SomeTMoutputpinnameshavea“_n”suffix.Pinnamesthatincludea“_1”suffixindicatethat

theyarefromaTMwithmultipleoutputpins.ThisallowstheTMtogenerateacomplimentary

outputpair,selectedusingtheI/Oregisterdatabits.
